A Square Peg AND a Round Hole

Have you ever felt like you don't fit in? We all do now and then. There are many reasons we might feel that way. Maybe you don't feel like you are a part of the "it" crowd. At work, at church, maybe even in your own family. You feel like you aren't smart enough, not good enough. You feel inferior. Philippians 4:19 promises that "God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." We've all heard this verse, and most of us can quote it, but what does it mean? Here is what I believe. If I were to ask you what the most important words in Philippians 4:19 are, what would you say? Would you say God? Meet needs? Riches? Glory? All good choices. But I believe that the most important words are "according to." Why? Well think about it. I have heard "out of" substituted for "according to." In other words it would read, "God will meet all your needs out of the riches...

You're Not Alone

Have you ever felt like a failure? Like you are not good enough? Like your life is so messed up that there is no way God could use you? Don't worry, youre not alone. Remember that the Bible tells us that " ...all have sinned and fall short of the golry of God ." (Rom 3:23) And truely All means ALL. You know that person that you look at and think "Man, they really have it all together." They're just as messed up as you are. Maybe not in the same way, maybe not at the same moment. But everyone, from time to time, is just as messed up. Think about this? Jonah : Ran from God when God told him what he needed to do. Jonah literally told God "NO," he wasn't going to Nineveh David : Killed Goliath...Great king...Wrote the Psalms...David had a dude put in a position to be killed because he wanted the man's wife. Rahab : was a prostitute The Woman at the Well : She had issues Moses : Stuttered and NEVER felt like he was good enough. P...

So This is Faith!

Faith is often defined as "a firm belief in something that cannot be seen." Do we really that much faith? I know, at times, I don't. I know that I often find myself wondering. Wondering if I have enough faith for things to happen....That's the wrong approach. The truth is, our Faith is misplaced. We want to have faith in things (faith that my car will start.) Faith in governments (don't get me started!!!) Faith in people who are in the same boat as we are (not that that's a bad thing....it is what it is!!) The question is, How is our Faith in God? Why is it that we trust the car to start, but we don't trust the One who provided the car? We have faith in the politician, but we lack faith in the One who we want to guide the politician. My faith has been tested quite a few times, and every time, God has proved Himself to be completely faithful. God will do what He promises He will do. Does God always give us everything we want?.....NO...and aren'...

The End of the Beginning

The name comes from a song title. David Phelps sang the song of how the death of Jesus wasn't the end, but the end of the beginning. Thats kinda how I feel right now. A chapter has ended, but I know that end is only the end of the beginning. Soon the next chapter will begin. Not sure what it will be, but it will begin. God is the author. He won't let me write it...I'd probably just mess it up anyway...So I am glad He is the author. I can't say there haven't been some anxious moments, and there may be a few more...but I know that the story will be great, because the Author is perfect. So here's to the end of the beginning!
